Ingredients

Southern Style Biscuits

  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
  • ¾ Cup Whole Milk
  • 1 Stick Butter Cold or Frozen

Sausage Gravy

  • 1 lb Ground Pork Sausage Breakfast Seasoned
  • 2 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Salt Sea Salt
  • 2 tsp Cracked Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 3 Cups Whole Milk

Instructions

Biscuits Recipe

  • In a mixing bowl add flour, salt, and baking powder
  • Mix completely to incorporate all ingredients
  • Cut cold butter into small 1/4 inch cubes
  • Cut butter into flour mixture using hands. Break butter up into pea size pieces mixing thoroughly.
  • Mix milk into flour mixture creating a rough dough.
  • Be sure to not over mix your dough to keep your biscuits light and flaky.
  • Roll the dough ball out onto a floured surface. Press the dough out to about 1/2 to 1 inch thick.
  • Dust the rim of a small glass or jar with flour
  • Press the glass rim down into the dough, creating circles of dough
  • Remove the excess dough around the circles and place the dough discs onto a nonstick baking sheet
  • Repeat until you have used all of the dough
  • Bake at 425F for 12-17 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown.
  • Remove from the baking sheet and place on a cooling rack to cool.

Sausage Gravy

  • Place a skillet on medium heat
  • Add 2 Tbsp of butter and melt
  • Add ground sausage and fry until it is browned
  • When the sausage has just started browning, sprinkle with 2 Tbsp
  • Be sure to coat all of the sausage and stir into the drippings of the sausage. This should create a roux like consistency.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes stirring occassionaly
  • Add Salt, Pepper, and Garlic Powder while stirring.
  • Slowly add milk as you continue stirring
  • Stir until your gravy reaches a simmer. At this point it will start to thicken.
  • Continue to stir until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Add black pepper to your liking.

Build Your Biscuits and Gravy

  • Tear your biscuits apart and place halves onto a plate
  • Spoon gravy over the top of the biscuits
  • Salt and pepper to taste and enjoy.
