Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Flat Top Grill
  • 1 Bread Knife
  • 1 Chef Knife

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Breasts Thighs would work well too
  • 1 Bell Pepper Green, Red, or Yellow
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 4 Hoagie Rolls
  • 3 Tbsp Philly Seasoning
  • 8 Slices Pepper Jack Cheese Can use shredded as well.

Philly Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Granulated Garlic
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • 2 Tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder

Instructions

  • With a knife, thinly slice chicken breasts into small thin slices
  • In a mixing bowl, mix your seasoning with the sliced chicken breasts
  • Wash your cutting board and knife and slice the peppers and onions into thin slices
  • Heat your flat top grill to medium-high heat.
  • On your flat top, add chicken and cook until cooked through completely and set aside.
  • Cook onions and peppers, generously salt and pepper veggies as they cook.
  • When peppers are cooked and onions are semi-translucent, mix chicken and veggies together.
  • Separate mixture into four sections
  • Add 2 slices of pepper jack cheese to each section of meat and veggies.
  • Steam to allow cheese to melt.
  • While cheese is melting, slice rolls with a breadknife length wise.
  • Place rolls cut side down and toast.
  • When the bread is toasted spoon meat, veggies and cheese into buns
  • Leave on the grill to toast outside of the bun as an open face sandwich.
  • Remove from grill and serve
