Preheat oven to 425F
Wash and peel the potatoes
Cut the potatoes into equal size pieces, smaller is better
Add cold water to a pot and add your potato pieces
Boil potatoes on medium high until the potatoes are fork tender
Drain the potatoes from water but don't rinse
Add drained potatoes to the large mixing bowl
Add milk, butter, sour cream, cream cheese, garlic and onion powders, salt, pepper, and shredded cheese to a large mixing bowl
Mash ingredients together until they reach a smooth consistency
Grease a glass baking dish
Dump potato mixture into the baking dish
Place baking dish in the oven and bake for 25 minutes until top is golden brown.
Serve with your favorite protein as a great side
